One day last week my team was informed that we had to gather in one of the conference rooms for an emergency meeting because we had received word that Joel Dehlin was coming over to Triad to talk with us. It is important to note that Joel is the 'BIG' boss, so when he says jump, or in this case, gather in a conference room, we gather. There were about 10 of us waiting in the conference room, wondering as to the purpose of the meeting, when we see Joel walk in, and right behind him was Elder Christofferson, who is the most newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
We were all stunned as Joel explained that Elder Christofferson had wanted to meet the team that was working on this new project and express his thanks. Elder Christofferson took a moment and expressed his gratitude and then said that he'd like us to go back to work and he would come around and talk a moment with us individually. It was so cool to see him walking around with Joel, taking 5 or sometimes even 10 minutes to talk with each of us, and not just everyone on our team, but the entire floor. He was very sincere and asked many questions about what we do and how we do it.
We all felt so honored that he would take time from his day to spend with us individually and have him express his gratitude to us for the work we were doing. I felt very humbled as I thought that he should be the one hearing my expressions of gratitude for the work he was doing as an apostle of the Lord. What an amazing blessing it is to be able to work where I do and to have experiences like this.
